Artist Carolina Fontoura Alzaga constructs impressive chandeliers using chains, wheels and other parts from old bicycles as part of a series she calls CONNECT. Alzaga has a number of pieces currently available in her shop.

wonderland climbing wall

Nendo, a Japanese design firm, constructed "a climbing wall that reflects the idea of 'becoming beautiful through movement' by fusing the strenuous sport of rock climbing with the elegance of the Omotesando's (an upscale shopping center in Japan) reputation in fashion. The wall uses unusual elements like baroque picture frames, mirrors, deer heads, birdcages, and flower vases as grappling fixtures which forces fitness to juxtapose with style in this Alice In Wonderland-inspired installation."

dream pavilion

"Dream Pavilion" is a series of handwoven furniture and lighting pieces produced by yatai outdoor furniture company.  Ranging from stools and ottomans to dining tables, hut-like chairs, and of course the mobile pavilion structures themselves, the handmade pieces involve the weaving of differently coloured plastic strips over minimal structural elements.  Different connective techniques effect a diverse aesthetic across the finished works, which include in some pieces a pattern woven into the object, or complementary accents of different cushion fabrics and styles.

negative space

"Negative space is the area of an image not occupied by shapes or forms and is often the part of the drawing that's neglected."  Yau Hoong Tang has been creating these negative space illusions for the past 4 years and enjoys "making illusion art because it has the ability to mislead us... We rely on sight in our lives and yet it is so fragile that we could easily be deceived by what we see."
